Been awhile

I was told today that I needed to post new pictures because Maddie is growing so fast! :)

Maddie asleep in her sling. I really needed to make dinner and she really wanted to be held. This way we both got what we wanted. :)

Robby had this blanket made for Mads (as Dillon sometimes calls her). It's a beautiful blanket and I wish you could see it in person. I did take a picture closer but you will have to go to: http://www.shonaandjeffbyrd.blogspot.com/ to see it. This picture Dillon really wanted to be in and I love the photo of both of them. Maddie's eyes are so blue against it.
I went to Baby Depot the other day and I bought a dress in a 2T. Yes it's neurotic. However the dress was normally 40 dollars and I got it for 15. It was the last one and it was to cute. I don't care that it will have to be in the back of the closet for a few years. At least when she wears it she will be the only one that has it. :)

Check back in a couple days. I'm going to scan Dillon's one month photos in a day or two for the comparison of him at a month and Madelynn at a month. Boy was Dillon a chunk! :)

Monday Update

I took Madelynn in for her weight update. She weighs 8 pounds and 7.5 ounces. Yay! She's gaining weight. We had a long day and she was such a trooper. I have been saving all my errands for when I got out of the house. So we went to her doctor, my doctor, Sams Club, Office Depot, Target, my work and Kroger then to pick up Dillon. She did so well! Not cranky at all.
So below are two pictures:
Maddie on the top at two weeks and Dillon on the bottom at two weeks. It's a comparison of them both.

Wordless Wednesday

I know I already posted today but I wanted to show my "Yoga Baby" sleeping on this wordless Wednesday. The other post was an update. :)
She fell asleep this way. Yes! I straightened her out... after I took the picture.

Weight Check Up

Last Wednesday Madelynn weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces. Dr. Blair wanted us to come back today (the 29th) and weigh her again. Maddie needed to gain an ounce a day per the pediatrician. Well I brought her in today and she weighed 8 pounds 2.5 ounces. Not quite up to her birth weight yet. I cannot understand this as this girl eats constantly! I don't think we do anything else besides feed her and let her sleep. :)

I was told to start supplementing her bottles with formula. I started that three days ago. :( So today I've been trying to trade and give her a formula bottle at every other feeding. She doesn't like that so much.

Monday we bring her in to weigh her again. Here's to hoping that she has gained more weight. Hopefully she's not like Rachelle and I. Rachelle just finally got over 100 pounds and she'll be 21 in two months and 11 days (as she so dutifully reminded me today) and I got up to 100 my junior year in high school. The doctor may just have to accept that although Madelynn may be tall she will probably be lanky as well.

One Week Well Appointment

We took Maddie to her one week well check today.
When we took her home from the hospital her weight was 7 pounds 14 ounces.
Today she was 7 pounds 15 ounces. Her height was 21.5 inches. She grew half an inch!!

Her weight is average but she is in the 97 percentile for her height. In a room of 100 other kids her age she would be taller than 97 of them. Wow!! I hope she keeps that height. :)
The doctor says she is perfect though. Good for her!!

New Pictures!

She is here!!!

Madelynn Marjorie Ellen Byrd has made her arrival!!
I started having contractions every 10 minutes starting at 7:00 am on Wednesday, April 15th. They stayed consistently 10 minutes the entire day!
Jeff and I went to Sam's club later in the evening hoping that walking around would make some sort of difference. It didn't. :)

Jeff works nights so he went in to work at 10:00. Wouldn't you know it about 10:30 they started bouncing all over the place. 8 minutes, 3 minutes, 5 minutes. I called Jeff and told him that I thought that he'd probably have to leave work to go to the hospital but I'd call him to let him know when they were more consistent. Keep in mind we live 20/25 minutes from the hospital. He waited like 3 minutes and called me back and said that he was going to go ahead and come home and he was just going to be at the house just in case.
He got home, changed out of his uniform and we left for the hospital. I decided we needed to just go ahead and go. The contractions were really starting to hurt and intensify. Thank goodness I have a smart husband. LOL!
We got to the hospital about midnight. When the nurse checked me out she said that I was at 4 cm. Keep in mind the day before I was only 1 1/2 and my doctor scheduled an induction for next week.
She (the nurse) went ahead and admitted me and got all the IV's going. About 2:30/3:00 I got my epidural. Thank the good Lord for whoever invented that. That person is a genius! About 5:00 the nurse came back and wanted to check status. She said that she couldn't tell much because my water hadn't broke and that it was right there. She told me the doctor would be in at 6:00 to look me over and decide from there what to do. She walked out the door and 5 minutes later my water broke.

Dr. Change came in at 6:00 and didn't even really wait. The room I was in served as a delivery room but had to be set up first. He had me do my first push before the room was set up. I did my first set of pushes (3 each time) and we waited for the next contraction. Did this three more times and Madelynn came out. I couldn't believe that I was already done!! I pushed for 3 hours with Dillon.
She weighed in at 8 pounds 3 oz and has hair on her head! Yay! The heartburn myth is true for this one at least. She's been doing really well all day. Has had the hiccups like 6 times and sneezed several other times. Takes after her mom. Her Agpar score was a 9 out of 9 and she is doing wonderfully. If it weren't for "having" to stay at the hospital per insurance reasons I would rather be at home right now. I made myself get up and walk around sooner and more often then with Dillon. I learned a few things since then. LOL!

Dillon came to visit her this evening and already is in love with her. He helped pat her back to get her to try to go to sleep and wanted to share his french fries with her. LOL Maddie also had a gift for Dillon which he was pretty pleased with (just a monster truck, geez he's easy). Cory had a school function he had to attend for a grade in a class so he'll get to meet Madelynn tomorrow. Thanks for reading up on us and to all the good wishes!
Lots more pictures to come!!

Official Eviction Notice!

Well no news! :)

I am dilated just 1/2 cm more. So I am 1 1/2 centimeters dilated and that is it!!

I asked what I should do come Monday if she's not here still and Dr. Chang said that we will induce on Tuesday the 21st.

If Madelynn decides not to come out on her own I will be induced on 4/21. So at the most I have one more week.

April 7th, 2009

Went to my 38 and a half week appointment on the 7th.

Dr. says, I am 1 CM Dilated and 40% effaced.

He made my 39 week appointment for next Tuesday. He didn't seem like he thought anything was going to happen between now and then so we shall see.

:)

This is from Jennifer Holt (Falke):
Sunny she is one of the twins that was at the wedding.

This is a boppy! They are wonderful and have many uses. One is for nursing, you wrap it around you and lay the baby on top. Another is so the baby can lean against the pillow and kind of sits up rather than lying on the floor or flat surface. When the baby gets bigger and is learning to sit up she can sit with it around her and it supports her in sitting up. And when they start holding their heads up they can lay up on it so that it supports their chest and their head is held up. I love this!! Thank you Jenn!!! (and Dan)

Holy Crap! It just erased everything I did.. AUGH!!

This one was wrapped really well!!!

From Nicole in Kentucky/Cincinnati

I love this diaper bag because it's neutral in color. Jeff wouldn't be embarrassed to carry it around. It actually looks bigger than it does in the picture too. It's great!!
Thank you Nicole (and Sage and Matthew)!!!!

From Aunt Katherine:

It's a Breast Pump which I could really use. Dillon didn't latch on so I used mine as much as I could.
Hopefully that won't be a problem this time but if it does I've got this AND I can pump and everyone can feed as well. Hee hee

Thank you Aunt Katherine!!!

The first thing I opened was from Rachelle:
The pictures loaded backwards... now I know.

It's a sling! Cute!! Some onesies! Even cuter! And some leg warmers which I'm going to use for knees when she starts to crawl!!
Thank yoU!!
