Madelynn Marjorie Ellen Byrd has made her arrival!!
I started having contractions every 10 minutes starting at 7:00 am on Wednesday, April 15
th. They stayed
consistently 10 minutes the entire day!
Jeff and I went to Sam's club later in the evening hoping that walking around would make some sort of difference. It didn't. :)
Jeff works nights so he went in to work at 10:00. Wouldn't you know it about 10:30 they started bouncing all over the place. 8 minutes, 3 minutes, 5 minutes. I called Jeff and told him that I thought that he'd probably have to leave work to go to the hospital but I'd call him to let him know when they were more consistent. Keep in mind we live 20/25 minutes from the hospital. He waited like 3 minutes and called me back and said that he was going to go ahead and come home and he was just going to be at the house just in case.
He got home, changed out of his uniform and we left for the hospital. I decided we needed to just go ahead and go. The contractions were really starting to hurt and intensify. Thank goodness I have a smart husband. LOL!
We got to the hospital about midnight. When the nurse checked me out she said that I was at 4 cm. Keep in mind the day before I was only 1 1/2 and my doctor scheduled an induction for next week.
She (the nurse) went ahead and admitted me and got all the IV's going. About 2:30/3:00 I got my epidural. Thank the good Lord for whoever invented that. That person is a genius! About 5:00 the nurse came back and wanted to check status. She said that she couldn't tell much because my water hadn't broke and that it was right there. She told me the doctor would be in at 6:00 to look me over and decide from there what to do. She walked out the door and 5 minutes later my water broke.
Dr. Change came in at 6:00 and didn't even really wait. The room I was in served as a delivery room but had to be set up first. He had me do my first push before the room was set up. I did my first set of pushes (3 each time) and we waited for the next contraction. Did this three more times and Madelynn came out. I couldn't believe that I was already done!! I pushed for 3 hours with Dillon.
She weighed in at 8 pounds 3 oz and has hair on her head! Yay! The heartburn myth is true for this one at least. She's been doing really well all day. Has had the hiccups like 6 times and sneezed several other times. Takes after her mom. Her Agpar score was a 9 out of 9 and she is doing wonderfully. If it weren't for "having" to stay at the hospital per insurance reasons I would rather be at home right now. I made myself get up and walk around sooner and more often then with Dillon. I learned a few things since then. LOL!
Dillon came to visit her this evening and already is in love with her. He helped pat her back to get her to try to go to sleep and wanted to share his french fries with her. LOL Maddie also had a gift for Dillon which he was pretty pleased with (just a monster truck, geez he's easy). Cory had a school function he had to attend for a grade in a class so he'll get to meet Madelynn tomorrow. Thanks for reading up on us and to all the good wishes!
Lots more pictures to come!!
